·Registration opened for the Bulldog Blast Summer Recreation program on March 15.

The program will be at two locations this summer - Slatington and Peters elementary schools.

Should the pandemic again make schools unavailable, camp will be held at Eagles Nest Park and Victory Park.

The program, which will offer seven weeks of fun, games, team building, arts and crafts and swimming, will run Mondays through Fridays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 21 until Aug. 6 with Fridays being field days at Eagles Nest Park, Washington Township.

An optional extended day until 4 p.m. is available at Slatington Elementary School only.

·Spring Break Vacation Camp, to keep children active and engaged during spring break, will be offered by the team at Amazing Athletes 9 a.m. to noon April 1-5 (three weekdays) at Friedens Fire Company, Friedens Road.

Activities will include games, skill-building and just plain fun.

·Amazing Athletes programs continue into spring with a variety of daytime and after-school programs for children ages 2-1/2 to 12.

Amazing Athletes uses a multisport program to benefit children mentally socially and emotionally.

The program introduces the fundamentals of 10 different sports in a noncompetitive environment.

Children will gain greater confidence, learn to combine fitness with fun and develop key motor skills.

Classes will be held at Eagles Nest Park.

Information and to register for any of the Amazing Athletes programs may be done directly with Amazing Athletes.

·Tennis for Beginners returns 5-7 p.m. April 19 until May 23 at Eagles Nest Park.

One-hour classes for beginners and advanced beginners are available from fourth graders to adults.

·Walk with Ease is back at Slatington Trailhead.

This six-week session will meet 10-11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning April 27.

WWE is an evidence-based program, through the Arthritis Foundation, that helps people with arthritis or other related conditions reduce pain, improve balance, strength, walking pace and overall health.

The instructor is Peggy Shannon.

Many outdoor activities and events are planned for the year, starting with the first community night hike of the season that will focus on Birds of Prey on May 13 at Slate Heritage Trail’s Covered Bridge Trailhead.

There is no fee for the night hikes offered by the Wildlands Conservancy.

Finally, several programs are in the works, with details being finalized, including The Great Community Scavenger Hunt, a Spring Nature Photography class and Amazing Athletes after school programs.
