State Police Troop M, Bethlehem, were called to assist Northampton Borough Police Department Nov. 19 after a report that a possibly suicidal man was armed in a wooden area in Allen Township.

According to the report, officers responded 2:15 p.m. to the area of Kohls and Cherryville roads, Allen Township, after a 45-year-old male from Allentown was reportedly armed and suicidal.

After troopers and borough officers established a perimeter in the area, troopers were able to negotiate with the individual, utilizing a speaker system. The man ultimately surrendered to police and was taken into custody without incident, police said.

The male was transported to Northampton Borough Police Department and then to St, Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill, by Northampton Regional EMS.

There were no injuries reported, police said.
