LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

South Whitehall provides trick-or-treat update

According to information provided by South Whitehall Parks and Recreation Manager Mike Kukitz, Trick or Treat in the township is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Oct. 30. Rain date is Oct. 31.

The extra hour is being offered to encourage social distancing and to provide more daylight for trick or treaters to safely participate.

South Whitehall encourages all residents to be mindful of current CDC guidelines. When trick or treating, maintain the suggested 6-foot social distancing standard.

The typical Halloween mask is not sufficient as a facial covering. Wear an appropriate mask that covers the nose and mouth. In addition, the township offers the following suggestions:

·To participate, consider placing candy outside in a small bowl so trick or treaters can pick their own. If you want to sit outside with the candy, maintain the 6-foot social distancing standard;

·If you do not want to participate, leave the porch light off; and

·Offer wrapped candy.

South Whitehall is offering up a spooky alternative for all the area’s kids.

From 5-8 p m. Oct. 30 township staff will be offering a one-stop-shop for trick or treaters at Covered Bridge Park, 2465 Wehr Mill Road.

All who show up will walk down the kid-friendly haunted trail to pavilion No. 2 where they will be given a goody bag full of sweets and treats.

Ghosts, goblins, spooky music and more await. Get dressed up.

All scary ghosts, pretty princesses, strong firefighters and powerful superheroes who live in South Whitehall are invited to this year’s trick or treat.

All staff handing out candy will be wearing the proper personal protective equipment, practicing social distancing and will follow all current COVID-19 guidelines.
