The library supports early basic literacy through the 1,000 Books before Kindergarten program. This program promotes parents reading to their children before they reach kindergarten.
To participate, sign up at the library help desk and receive a folder with a sheet to mark off books. At each 100-book milestone, bring the sheet back, and your child receives a prize. Once 1,000 books is achieved, you and your child get to attend a special ceremony, held twice a year.
