Allen/East Allen townships: Summer programs planned at park

Northampton County Parks & Recreation has planned free, local outdoor programs for July.

A You & Me: Animal Detectives program will be held 9:30-11 a.m. July 6 at Wayne Grube Park, Pavilion 1, 1200 Willowbrook Road, Allen Township. Participants will embark on a naturalist-guided walk to investigate traces of wildlife. The program includes hands-on tracking and a nature journaling activity. This event is for children ages 2-5 and a caregiver. Those planning to attend are encouraged to dress for the weather.

A wildlife day camp is planned for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. July 10 at Wayne Grube Park, Pavilion 1. Campers will explore the park and learn about ornithology, herpetology, entomology and mammalogy. This event is for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.

Zion Stone United Church of Christ, 51 Church Road, Kreidersville, will hold a peach festival and car show noon-8 p.m. July 15. The rain date is July 16.

The festival will feature food, games, a basket social, cake walk and raffle. Live entertainment includes Nick of Time, noon-3 p.m., and Midnight Special, 5-8 p.m.

The car show will feature antique tractors and engines. Show time is 1-5 p.m.

The third annual Northampton Area School District Student Council car show is set for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 29, with a rain date of July 30. There will be cars, trucks, motorcycles and antique tractors. The event will be held at Bicentennial Park West, 5351 Park West Lane, off Colony Drive.

Registration will be 9 a.m.-noon.

There will be awards (presented 3 p.m.), door prizes, a tricky tray, food, a deejay, crafts and a flea market. All proceeds will benefit Student Council.
