LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Lehigh Township Column

June is National Trails Month with Saturday, June 6, being designated as National Trails Day.

To promote area trails, Lehigh Township Rails to Trails will have displays in area libraries to provide information about these trails. Trail maps will be displayed, and brochures concerning a variety of trails will also be available.

The schedule for these displays is as follows: May 4-9 in Slatington; May 11-16 in Palmerton; May 18-23 in Whitehall; and May 26-June 1 in Northampton.

Members of LTRT will be available to discuss the current status of and future work on area trails Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at each library.

On June 6, weather permitting, LTRT will be present at the Slatington Trailhead from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in celebration of National Trails Day.

Walking and biking on trails both promote healthy living.

The creation of trails also helps to protect green space and creates environmental awareness.

For additional information, call 610-767-0676.
