The Whitehall Lions Club will hold a spring fling oldies dance Friday, May 15, from 7 to 10 p.m., at the American Club pavilion, Cherry Street.

Doors open at 6 p.m.

The kitchen and bar will be open.

Now is the time to get rid of used tires.

Public works personnel this Saturday will be at the borough parkway parking lot accepting the old tires for free.

Lafarge Cement Company is again providing a large trailer for the tires.

The annual tire drop-off is a cooperative project between the borough and Lafarge.

Proof of borough residency is a must.

Most tires will be accepted. Six tires from a household is the limit.

A help wanted notice is going out from the Coplay Public Library.

A part-time library assistant position, for 10 hours a week, is currently open.

Persons interested should submit a resume and cover letter by tomorrow, Friday, May 8, to the library at 49 S. Fifth St., Coplay, 18037.

The individual must be willing to work evenings and possibly Saturdays.

Applicants will be required to undergo a background check, criminal history and child abuse clearances.

There is a job opening at the Coplay Parkway Pool this summer.

The borough is looking for an individual or nonprofit organization to operate the concession stand.

There is a reasonable rent fee for operating the concession stand. John Milander, who operated Milander's Market, ran the concession stand until last year.

The food bank, operated by the Coplay Recreation & Welfare Association in the borough hall basement, will be open Tuesday, May 12, 9-10:30 a.m.

Proof of residency is required.
