The public is invited to a Captive Free concert Saturday, May 2, 7 p.m., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1335 Old Carriage Road, Kreidersville.

Captive Free is a music ministry team sponsored by Youth Encounter.

Kreidersville Cub Scout Pack 40 invites all boys in kindergarten through fourth grade to an ice cream social and Cub Scout sign-up on Tuesday, May 5, 6:45 p.m., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1335 Old Carriage Road, Kreidersville.

Parents will have an informational meeting about Pack 40 and Cub Scouting, while the boys will be doing fun activities.

Cub Scouting is a year-round family program for boys graduating kindergarten through fourth grades this spring.

The group meets Tuesday nights, 6:45 p.m., at Good Shepherd.

A comedy show will be held Saturday, May 2 at the Allen Township Fire Company, 3530 Howertown Road.

Doors open at 5 p.m. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the comedy show at 6 p.m. The event will end at 11 p.m.

The cost of a ticket includes a platter, beverages, the comedy show and deejay entertainment.

The Governor Wolf Historical Society will hold its annual dinner at 6 p.m. Friday, May 1, in the Wolf Academy on the society's East Allen Township campus, 6600 Jacksonville Road.

This year's after-dinner speaker will be Neil Curtis, a longtime Civil War buff who is especially learned on the pivotal Battle of Gettysburg. The topic of the talk will be "General James Longstreet: The South's Most Controversial General." His presentation will give a brief synopsis of Longstreet's life and some insight of his exploits during the war, specifically at the battle of Gettysburg.
