"We're young and still learning," Jeff Jacksits said Monday night after his Northampton girls' basketball team upended Freedom.
The Konkrete Kids won their third Eastern Pennsylvania Conference game behind Francesca Sanchez's clutch shooting in the fourth period of a 53-47 victory.
Northampton, now 3-4 in the EPC and 3-8 overall, rode Sanchez's shooting as the Kids ended a three-game losing streak.
Sanchez scored eight of her 14 points in the fourth period, including the final four from the foul line in the last 49 seconds.
"She (Sanchez) injured her left shoulder in the State College Tournament over the Christmas break," said Jacksits. "But, [Monday] she came up with her best game of the season."
Sanchez scored her other six points in the second period when the Kids came from behind to outscore Freedom 15-5 for a 27-19 halftime lead.
Aja Blount, who finished with 16 points, had seven in the first period and Sophia Eckroth, who wound up with 12, scored five in the second period as the Kids scored seven in a row for a 23-18 with 1:29 left in the first half.
In winning on the newly-named Bob Nemeth Court in the Pete Schneider Gym, Northampton came through with a balanced attack, hitting on 19 field goals and 14 of 19 foul shots.
"We looked bad Friday (Jan. 2) in our 41-22 loss at Whitehall, but we regrouped nicely tonight," said Jacksits. "Our forwards-center-to forwards passing was key to our win."
Northampton returns to action Friday at Dieruff and entertains Stroudsburg in a nonleague game Saturday. The Kids play Easton at home Tuesday and Central Catholic next Friday.
