Santa Claus is coming to town
The Charotin Hose Company will be escorting Santa around the streets of North Catasauqua on Sunday, Dec.14. The visits to borough homes will start around 10 a.m. and will continue until they are finished. Wrapped gifts may be dropped off at the fire department at Fourth and Arch streets 7-9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8. Bring a completed registration form with you or you may fill one out at the fire station at the time of dropoff.
Each package must contain the name and address of the person receiving the gift. Refer to the fire department's website at www.ncfd18.com/santa for a printable registration form. Call the fire department at 610-266-1969 with questions.

Holy Trinity Orthodox Catholic Church is taking orders for nut, apricot, raspberry and lekvar kiffles. To place an order, call 215-407-7336. The deadline for orders is Friday, Dec.12. Pick up at the church at 1023 Fifth St.on Dec. 17.

The Young at Heart Christmas Dinner date has been changed to 1 p.m. Dec. 10. It will be held in the church social hall, Third and Eugene streets. Also, a Dec. 19 casino trip to Mt. Airy is planned. Call Bill Molchany at 610-264-0920 to reserve a seat.

Residents are invited to bring donations of nonperishable food to the collection box now through Jan. 9 in the hallway of the borough hall. This food drive is sponosred by the North Catasauqua Betterment Committee for the Catasauqua Community Food Bank.

Order luminaria kits by Dec. 10 for the Luminaria Night, set for 5 p.m. Dec. 13. On that day, residents can help create a peaceful glow of luminaria throughout the borough, including at the park, where the We Sing Chorus will perform a concert at 6:30 p.m.
There will be caroling, limo bus rides (for a small fee), hot chocolate, goodies, candy canes for everyone and holiday photo opportunities. Weather permitting, Chinese lanterns will sail through the night sky.
The rain date for the event is Dec. 14. Pick up luminaria kits 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 11. Kits are also available for sale at borough hall, 1066 Fourth St.

Once you've strung the lights, hung up the wreath and decorated the yard, it's time to enter the eighth annual North Catasauqua small Town USA Holiday Home Decorating Contest. A number of great prizes are being offered this year, including gift cards ranging in value from $25 to $75. Judging will take place Dec. 17.
