Kids fall to Central

Northampton's football team dropped their seventh straight game of the season last weekend following a 26-7 defeat to Central Catholic. The loss pushes the Kids to 1-7 overall this season and 0-7 in the East Penn Conference South Division.

For head coach Mark Scisly, enduring another loss is never an easy predicament.

"It's always tough when you are not winning," said Scisly. "The kids are still taking strides and improving. I was hoping to have a little more success, but we play in one of the toughest leagues in the state and our team was fairly inexperienced at a varsity level coming into the year."

Central Catholic (2-6) built a 19-0 lead through three quarters, as Viking quarterback Mason Kholi threw for 147 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. Central doubled up on the K-Kids in yards on the night, as the Vikings outgained Northampton 351-175.

Devon Turner led Northampton in rushing with 42 yards, but Jovani Datis-Cordero scored the Kids only touchdown on the night with a 10-yard scamper in the fourth quarter.

With Northampton taking a trip up north to take on an undefeated Stroudsburg (8-0) team this Friday night, Scisly knows the road never gets easier in the EPC.

"It is a process that takes time," he said of getting the program back to a competitive level. "The league that we play in makes it even harder. I think our expectations are a little higher than people are used to. We have made some recent strides defensively. We need to be more consistent moving the ball and putting points on the scoreboard."
