U. Mac board learns ambulance corps earns reaccreditation
A letter from Cetronia Ambulance Corps was presented to the Upper Macungie superviors at their Oct. 2 meeting saying the corps received re-accreditation for compliance in meeting national standards within the industry.
This award comes from the Commission of Accreditation of Ambulance Services with Cetronia only one of only six in the state to receive this honor and having the distinction of being in the top 1 percent in the nation.
This is the third time this honor has been bestowed on Cetronia.
The ambulance corps, founded in 1955, currently has 140 full- and part-time personnel with 20 active volunteers.
The group has 19 ambulances, 18 para-transit vehicles, a supervisor's vehicle, three Medi-Cars and a special operations unit.
The letter noted the corps receives more than 44,000 requests for service yearly within its 108-square-mile service area.
In addition, the corps has a non-emergency coverage area taking it into seven counties.
In other matters, the board tabled an ordinance to allow the transfer of the Berks Lehigh Regional Police Commission pension.
After some discussion, supervisors voted to table the matter until next month as one of the participants of the defunct police force was not able to vote on the proposal.
Supervisor Sam Ashmar said the BLRPC situation could be resolved by the end of the year.
Each participant must pass the ordinance and all retired officers must also vote on this plan.
