Scheetz headed to Notre Dame College

Michael Scheetz didn't have a hard time choosing where he wanted to wrestle in college.

The Northampton senior recently chose Notre Dame College, last year's Division-II national champions, located in South Euclid, Ohio to further his wrestling career.

Scheetz wanted to get the decision out of the way before his final year at Northampton begins, so he can fully commit himself to the K-Kids.

"I really wanted to focus on this season," said Scheetz. "That's why I wanted to get this out of the way now."

Bloomsburg, Drexel and Maryland were also on Scheetz's radar, but he preferred the sights and sounds of the D-II champs.

"The success they had last year played a part in my decision," he said, "but they're wrestling team is like a family there. It reminds me of Northampton."

Scheetz went 28-9 last season at 113-pounds and took fourth at districts, third at regionals and fifth at states. He plans to wrestle at either 120 or 126 this season, as he joins fellow teammate Todd Hetrick as the lone Kids on the roster that qualified for the PIAA tournament a year ago.
