Saylor on LV Cup team
Northampton High School softball player, Amber Saylor, was named to the 2014 Lehigh Valley Carpenter Cup softball team.
The team is comprised of high school players from the LVC and the Colonial League, who will compete in the Carpenter Cup Softball Classic, a tournament sponsored by the Philadelphia Phillies. Teams competing in the tournament, which is also a showcase for college coaches, are from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
"I was going to try out last year, but I had an injury last season. It's a fun way to get to play with other players and get exposure with college coaches," Saylor said.
Saylor, who plays right field for Northampton, will play second base for Lehigh Valley.
"I know a couple girls since I play tournament ball, but most of them are from the Colonial League. Everyone's easy to get along with," said Saylor.
Lehigh Valley will face Berks County in their first game on Thursday, June 23, at FDR Park in Philadelphia. That game will take place at 11 a.m. They will have another game later that day at 3 p.m.
"Seeing people from last year, they made a lot of friends from it. I'm looking forward to having more experience and playing other places," Saylor said.
Other members of the team are: Jenna Keet, OF, Saisbury; Megan Brown, 2nd, Freedom; Meagan Kavanagh, P, Easton; Marissa Kersch, C, Pen Argyl; Karly Klein, 1st, Whitehall;
