Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, Schnecksville, played host Jan. 31 to a 5-pound hamburger-eating contest called "Tame the Bison."
The fundraiser helped students Family, Career and Community Leaders of America raise money for a trip to the Pennsylvania State Championship in Lancaster in March.
Six ravenous rivals started with the goal of finishing the Bison Burger in an hour.
If a competitor finished eating within the allotted time, his or her entry fee would be returned.
Two half-pound patties of ground beef, not bison meat, was in the burger and there were three pounds of bread, a half-pound of bacon, half-pound of cheese, grilled onions, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, a side of french fries and assorted brownies for dessert.
A bison is the former mascot of LCTI.
The Bison Burger proved too much for any of the contestants to completely devour.
