Three ordinances concerning parking, speed limits and stop signs were adopted by Upper Macungie supervisors at their Feb. 6 meeting.
The parking ordinance established areas along certain roads as "No Parking" zones. The second establishes speed limits along various roadways and the third ordinance establishes a "stop" intersection at Mosser and Twin Pond roads.
Resident Alex Tamerler voiced his opinion against the proposed "No Parking" areas saying there was no place to park along these roads so the vehicle would be off the roadway.
He said future roads should be wide enough so ample off-street parking was available along the roadway.
Tamerler specifically singled out the tractor-trailer traffic which going through the township.
Supervisors also adopted two resolutions. The first authorizes submission of an application for the pre-emption of the traffic signal at the intersection of Route 100 and Mohr Lane and Hilltop Road.
The second amends the township's emergency operations plan.
The board also approved motions to obtain the services of Lafayette College in the search for a township administrator; the sale of surplus equipment; the vacation of a small portion of Helen Drive; and name change for a portion of Krocks Road to Abigail Drive.
An additional motion allows Police Chief Edgardo Colón to apply for a grant from the COPS program, run by the U. S. Department of Justice, for the advancement of community policing in state, local, territorial and tribal law enforcement agencies.
