Energy and activity highlighted the annual Super Sunday Phone-a-Thon to raise money for the Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley.
"We will have close to 150 volunteers making thousand of calls to the community," said Iris Epstein, event co-chair with husband, Jonathan.
Volunteers participating in the Jan. 26 event were greeted upon arrival with a special T-shirt to wear for the occasion.
They came in to make calls and to raise money for a common goal, which, according to Iris Epstein, "was to care for people in need, by feeding the hungry, giving our children a top notch Jewish education, and helping build a strong Jewish community.
"The money raised today will help the Jewish Federation be the glue that binds the Jewish community with one another here locally, around the world and with Israel.
"It will help us keep families together, and it will help fund workshops to educate both Jews and non-Jews."
Iris and Jonathan and their family have volunteered at Super Sunday for more than seven years.
Iris Epstein said the energy was amazing.
"Some of the volunteers have volunteered for over 25 years," she explained.
Congressman Charlie Dent, R-15th, state Sen. Pat Browne, R-16th, state Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, R-134th, were present to lend a hand and greet volunteers.
State Rep. Mike Schlossberg, D-132nd, read to the children during the PJ Library story time.
The 135 volunteers raised $66,000 in donations for the Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley.
