Eighty-two youth members from nine regional United Church of Christ congregations participated Sept. 28 in Sleepout for Homelessness at Union United Church of Christ, Neffs.
The youths, accompanied by 25 adult leaders and parents, built cardboard domiciles, then slept on the parking lot replicating just one night outside for the many homeless people found throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.
According to the Rev. Kris P. Snyder-Samuelson, associate pastor at Union UCC, the event was sponsored by the Penn Northeast Conference of the United Church of Christ.
Funds raised from the sleepout were donated to Valley Youth House.
