A section of the steel-grate Hokendauqua-North Catasauqua Bridge tumbles down slowly Thursday afternoon on the North Catasauqua side. A worker from HRI Inc. "pecked" at the bridge's steel frame for 45 minutes before it gently swayed and fell into the barren canal. The section of the bridge on the Hokendauqua side was removed last Monday, leaving a section over the Lehigh River next to fall. A new bridge will be constructed and should be open to traffic in October 2014.
