Friday's heavy rainfall luckily caused no flooding.
This is testimony to a better-than-adequate storm water system along with the borough's topography which plays a role in controlling and preventing floods.
Although the town has the Lehigh River on its east side, there are no residences found on the water's edge.
While a downward incline exists from Front to Sixth and West to Chestnut streets, the water drains well and flows into the borough's storm system.
Should an emergency arise from a weather related issue, the borough EMS says the town hall and some other structures can be utilized as shelters. When gas service went out in the fall due to a UGI defective gas regulator station, the borough hall was turned into a shelter.

Signs point to Bill's Restaurant on North Second Street not reopening under new ownership.
Dating back to the 1940s, the restaurant was initially known as Sodl's, later as Hilltop, and ultimately as Bill's for the last several decades. The property is located across from the colonial style bank, which also has been closed for several years.
Decades ago, it served as the site for Coplay National Bank. The building then housed several other financial institutions as smaller banks merged with large national banks.
The Coplay senior citizens have set up a trip for Thursday, Dec. 12, to Hunterdon Hills to see "A Christmas Playhouse 2013."
Pick up will occur in Whitehall and Allentown.

So far, daily attendance at the parkway pool has been holding its own.
Now with family vacations and July upon us, there should be a sharp rise in children and adults at the pool along with scheduled poolside deejay parties, weather permitting.
