New technology coordinator approved

Rella Beth Breiner of Bethlehem has been named coordinator of educational technology for Parkland School District at an annual salary of $77,000.

Breiner replaces Jason Henry who assumed the position of secondary curriculum supervisor.

Assistant to the Superintendent for Operations Tracy Smith introduced Breiner at a recent board meeting and spoke highly of her qualifications.

"Beth possess an extensive knowledge of curriculum and technology, a passion for high standards for herself and her colleagues, and a steadfast focus on high quality programs," Smith said. "We are excited to welcome this exemplary team member in this role."

Breiner's responsibility will be to assist the administration in the development and implementation of a plan of technology use for instruction in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Breiner earned her Bachelor's degree at East Stroudsburg University, a Master's degree from Western Kentucky University and an instructional technology specialist's certificate from DeSales.

Breiner's most recent job was with Commonwealth Connections Academy, where she was responsible for staff development for kindegarten through grade 12 teachers in an online situation.

Previously, Breiner served nine years as technology integration specialist for Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21, where she worked with the design, implementation, and assessment of technology training for teachers, students and administrators in 14 school districts.

Before that, Breiner served as technology integration specialist for Colonial Intermediate Unit 20, where she designed technology training programs for a staff of 100 employees, from the clerical to administrative level.
