Still adjusting
My youngest asked me why I did not try to find a different day job. I told him it wasn’t that easy. The truth is more complex.
I like my day job. I’m also pretty darned good at it. I’m also fairly resilient, despite my body having issues.
My body’s issues are all self-made. Autoimmune disease is my problem. I find I can bend over and pick things up easily now. It’s just that I can’t walk far without the cane, and I can’t walk fast. It’s very annoying, and I’m determined to overcome it.
I had to ask to have our hockey seats moved because while I could descend the stairs at the PPL Center, I could not go up them without assistance. We are trying the top of the next section. One step. Fingers on my working hand crossed.
My physical therapist did give me one exercise on stairs. Unfortunately, it was not possible. Back to the drawing board we go.
My youngest is slowly adjusting to his new school. Another thing I wish would happen faster. Good things take time, but of course, I don’t feel patient.
My late mother used to say I missed the line for patience. She was mostly right. I miss her a lot. It’s been a couple years, but I still miss talking with her. But it was her time. Her lungs failed at the end. Much the same as happened to my paternal grandfather.
Kids, smoking is bad.
We had to postpone our vacation, but it’s coming up soon. The only part I don’t look forward to is the driving. I expect I’ll need a break in the middle of each drive. My older son will hopefully be driving in a few months. That still makes me anxious, but it would also be good not to be the only driver in the household.
