Hornets post two shutouts to start season

The Emmaus High School boys soccer team won its first two games of the 2026 season via shutout with one out of conference and the other in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.

The Hornets opened the new campaign with a 2-0 victory at Memorial Field against Cumberland Valley on Friday, Aug. 29. After six days off, Emmaus took down Central Catholic in the conference opener 3-0 at Cedar Crest College last Thursday.

In the win over the Eagles, both of the Emmaus goals came in the second half as Xavier Kieber-Emmons and London Barrett both found the back of the net to help their team secure the opening win. Caeden Thornton had an assist on the second goal. Chase Evans earned the victory in goal for the Hornets and did not have to make a save.

The Hornets finished with a 7-0 advantage in shots.

In the victory against the Vikings, three different players scored the goals as Thornton and Gabe Reyes scored in the first half and Elek Chuhran added the third in the second half.

Brennan Stack assisted Thornton’s goal and Maseyn Muthard had an assist on Reyes’.

Once again Evans was not forced into action as the Hornets’ defense did not allow a shot. They had 13 shots offensively.

Emmaus has three conference matches this week, all of them at home.

The Hornets first host Pocono Mountain West Wednesday night, then welcome Bethlehem Catholic to Memorial Field Friday afternoon, before concluding the week against Pocono Mountain East Saturday morning. Emmaus is then at Northampton next Tuesday.
