Congratulations to Catasauqua High School’s marching band for bringing home a first-place win Sept. 19 at the Cavalcade of Bands competition at Northern Lehigh High School.

Ten local high school bands and the Northern Lehigh Bulldogs participated in the competition under the lights. What a great way to start the season!

Members of Lehigh Career and Technical Institute’s FFA chapter earned six blue ribbons and combined for 14 top-four finishes in the Great Allentown Fair’s display contest. Students also won a fourth-place FFA chapter award for their competitive efforts at the 174th annual fair, which ran Sept 2-7.

CHS student Brielle Cunningham placed second in the individual display contest. Brielle is enrolled in the veterinary technology program at LCTI. Way to go!

CHS’ financial aid night will be held 6 p.m. Oct. 5 in the auditorium. During this informational event, important updates regarding federal financial aid changes, navigating college funding options and financing opportunities and the timeline and steps for completion of the application process for seniors and their families will be shared.

There will be no school Oct. 12 for Columbus Day.

The CHS students will be dismissed 12:50 p.m. Oct. 21.
