Girls soccer team looks to keep growing this fall
In her first season at the helm of the Catasauqua girls’ soccer program, Madison Eisenhart knew she had to be patient.
She inherited a team that went 2-15 last season and lost a number of key seniors.
So, a rebuild likely would be in order.
That has been the case for the Rough Riders through their first ten games so far this season as they remain winless.
Still, Eisenhart has seen positives and plans to stay patient.
“I think the start of the season has been really encouraging,” offered Eisenhart recently. “We knew coming in that we had a younger, less experienced group, so our biggest focus has been building confidence, getting everyone comfortable in their roles, and improving a little bit every day.”
She already has seen her club begin to mature.
“I’ve been really happy with the way some of our girls have stepped up and taken on bigger roles than they may have expected,” she said recently. “I have had several players surprise me with their work rate, willingness to learn, and ability to adapt to different positions. “
Eisenhower has looked to Vicky Rodriguez Ramos, Khloe Davis, Danna Montoya, Uyen Ly, Arianna Stallworth, and Ana Rodriguez Ramos to set the pace.
Despite their record and their goal differential, Eisenhart also sees her defense growing.
“Our defensive effort has also continued to improve,“ added Eisenhart. “I think we’re starting to see the girls understand what I’m trying to build as a team.”
She is confident her team will find its way.
The Roughies will have a busy rest of season coming up over the next few weeks.
“The biggest surprise for me has honestly been how much potential this group has,” beamed Eisenhart. “We’re still figuring things out and we have a lot to clean up, but they’re showing that they’re capable of competing and continuing to grow.
“I’m really excited to see where we can be by the end of the season through soccer knowledge and confidence within the sport.”
