Upper Milford Township will celebrate America’s semiquincentennial at Lenape Park, Kings Highway South, Zionsville, noon to 6 p.m. The event is expected to include a parade, games and activities for kids, music performances, food trucks and more.

Old Zionsville United Church of Christ, 5981 Fountain Road, will screen the docudrama “The Fries Rebellion” 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Admission is free. Produced by the Lower Macungie Township Historical Society and media companies In the Wee hours and ubiFire Video Productions, the 32-minute film looks at an insurrection in what was then known as Macungie Township, when local farmers and other residents joined together to protest President John Adams’s administration and a new federal tax. The rebellion is named after its leader, John Fries. Several of the film’s scenes feature original sites that still exist, including Hendrixson’s Furniture Store (formerly John Shymer’s Tavern — Shimersville), Buckeye Tavern (formerly Henry Shankweiler’s Tavern — Macungie), 1760 House (formerly Peter Trexler’s Tavern — Trexlertown), Commix Hotel (formerly Martin Ritter’s Tavern — Allentown) and the 1758 Sun Inn (Bethlehem).

Sept. 9

The Emmaus Police Department will host the free virtual workshop “Protecting Seniors Online: Think Before Your Click” 1-4 p.m. in the community room of Emmaus Borough Hall, 28 S. Fourth St., Emmaus. Featured speakers will include Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday, David Shallcross of the Elder Abuse Unit, Consumer Issues Task Force Chair of AARP Pennsylvania Mary Bach and Rick Cimakasky, representing the Pennsylvania Bankers Association. The event is designed for older adults, caregivers, family members and anyone who supports seniors. The program will offer practical tips for recognizing online threats, protecting against financial scams, safeguarding personal information and steps to take in case of fraud.

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold a free food distribution 2-4 p.m. Also Sept. 23. The church no longer holds a weekly food cupboard. Recipients must reside in the East Penn School District. Signs will be posted with directions of where to park and which door to use to pick up food.

Sept. 11

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will host a free community meal in the fellowship hall 5-6:30 p.m. Diners are welcome to come inside to pick up a take-out meal if choosing not to dine at the church. For more information, call the church office at 610-966-3325.

Sept. 13

The Macungie Band will present its annual “Barbecue and Beats Dinner and Concert” 4 p.m. at Jordan Lutheran Church, 5130 Snowdrift Road, Orefield. The concert theme is “A Celebration of American Music.” The band will present a program of selections by American composers including Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, Chuck Mangione, John Williams and a medley of themes from the marches of John Philip Sousa by Warren Barker. There is a cost for tickets. Tickets are available online through the website www.macungieband.com, from Macungie Band musicians and by mail. Ticket orders must be made by Sept. 8.

Sept. 19

The Emmaus Lions Club will host a Ham and Turkey Dinner fundraiser 4-7 p.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 139 N. Fourth St., Emmaus. There is cost for tickets and proceeds benefit the Emmaus Police Department K-9 Unit and Pediatric Cancer and Diabetes Awareness. Children 5 years and younger eat free. Highlights include a prize raffle, 50/50 drawing and a menu of ham, turkey, glazed carrots, potato filling and mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans with bacon, fruit salad, dessert and more. Sept. 23

The Emmaus Garden Club will travel to the New York Botanical Gardens. There is a cost for tickets. The 250-acre NYBG is located in The Bronx and is a national historic landmark. Trip highlights will include the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, rose gardens, water features and New York City’s only fresh water river. A 30-minute narrated tram tour also will be available. Sept. 26

Lower Milford Township will host its 24th annual fall festival 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the campus of the municipal building, 7607 Chestnut Hill Church Road, Coopersburg. The event will include photo and coloring contests, an apple pie baking contest, food trucks, artisan and craft vendors, free tractor rides, opportunities to build your own scarecrow, music performances and more. Sept. 29

Hivel Und Dahl Preservation Society quarterly meeting will be held 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township building, 5671 Chestnut St. The program will feature Pennsylvania Dutch folk music. Scott Reagan of Nazareth will provide a program of traditional and original PA Dutch songs. There will also be some English songs. The program is free and light refreshments will be served.

Oct. 3

The Emmaus Borough Police Department will host its National (Day) Night Out noon to 5 p.m. at Emmaus Community Park, 1356 Shimerville Road, Emmaus. The event is fall-themed and will feature law enforcement K-9, motorcycle, bicycle unit and drone demonstrations, a MedEvac helicopter landing, a car cruise, pumpkin decorating, food trucks, mascots, music performances, a climbing wall, bumper cars, local businesses and organizations and more.

The Alburtis Fall Festival is scheduled noon to 5 p.m. at the Alburtis Area Community Center, 220 W. Second St., Alburtis. The event will feature food trucks, local vendors, bounce houses, a pumpkin drop and more. The rain date for the festival is noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 4.

Oct. 10

The Emmaus High School Class of 1966 will mark 60 years with a reunion event starting 1 p.m. at Superior Diner, 102 Main St., Emmaus. The event will include a buffet meal, socializing and other highlights. There is a cost per person and the deadline for RSVPs and fees is Oct. 1. Address fees to Hope Delaco, 110 Ft. The Woman’s Club of Emmaus will host its Fall Dessert Card Party 1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. Card and board games will be played.
