The summer concert series ends the season with Chelsea Lyn Meyer Band (country/pop rock) performing 7-10 p.m. Sept. 4 at the amphitheater at Catasauqua Park and Playground, 501 American St. Bring your lawn chair and/or blanket, and settle in for a fun, last-of-the-season, musical night in the park.

From 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Oct. 17, there will be a paranormal after-dark investigation supporting the George Taylor House’s 250th anniversary window preservation campaign. Step inside one of Catasauqua’s most historic homes, located at Lehigh and Poplar streets, after dark for a public paranormal investigation. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the property after hours with experienced paranormal investigators and take part in a respectful, history-centered investigation.

This event is designed for those who are curious about the paranormal, interested in historic preservation or looking for a unique fall experience inside one of the Lehigh Valley’s treasured historic sites.

Paranormal activity is never guaranteed. This event is about exploration, history and respectful investigation.

There is a cost, and space is limited. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by parent/guardian.

Proceeds from this event support the preservation efforts of the George Taylor House Association, including the ongoing care and preservation of this historic property.

A back-to-school half-price sale will continue through Sept. 5 at Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St. Stop in 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The shop volunteers will accept donations of good, used, clean clothing, household items and toys during store hours. Proceeds from the shop are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.

The Public Library of Catasauqua, 302 Bridge St., will host another informative program in its History of Catasauqua series 7 p.m. Sept. 9 in the upstairs auditorium. Deb Mellish, of Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association, will present “Scots Irish in the Lehigh Valley and the Fight for Independence.” Come hear the story of the Scots Irish journey from Ulster, Ireland, in the early 1720s to the formation of the Craig Irish Settlement in the Lehigh Valley in 1728, and learn how these first settlers shaped our area.

The program is free, and all are invited to attend.
