The Hanover Stingrays summer swim team will have to live with the nagging question, What if?, at least for a little while.

Entering the Championships Meet last month with a 7-1 record, the Stingrays were geared up to avenge their only loss to Soleco.

But thunderstorms stopped the end-of-season swim meet twice during the early session’s older swimmers’ events.

Stingrays coach Evan Kocon explained that the weather delays resulted in the omission of the butterfly, backstroke, and 100 freestyle.

“It would’ve been really, really close,” said Kocon, “but we couldn’t make all those swimmers and their families wait, so we didn’t get to finish the morning session with the older kids.”

As a result, Hanover placed second in the Championships Meet, right behind first-place Soleco by just 50 points once final scores were tallied.

The Hanover Stingrays compete in the Suburban Swim League of the Greater Lehigh Valley.
