Dinner and concert set for Sept. 13
The Macungie Band will welcome music fans to its annual Barbecue and Beats Dinner and Concert 4 p.m. Sept. 13 at Jordan Lutheran Church, 5130 Snowdrift Road, Orefield.
The program is under the theme “A Celebration of American Music” in honor of America’s 250th birthday and will feature the music of American composers including works by Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, Chuck Mangione, John Williams and a medley by Warren Barker of themes from the marches of John Philip Sousa.
Catered by Country View Meats of Danielsville, the meal will be served cafeteria style when the concert begins. Concertgoers are encouraged to come early to choose their favorite table.
Featured soloists will include Alec Rubery, a 2023 graduate of Freedom High School and music student at Kutztown University; soprano vocalist Emily Hill, who teaches music at East Hills Middle School in Bethlehem and is a member of the Bach Choir of Bethlehem and Ryan Hill, who teaches music production at Liberty High School, Bethlehem.
There is a cost for tickets, which will be available for purchase until Sept. 8.
