Robert “Poppy” V. Lopez, 90, of Bethlehem, died Saturday, July 18, 2026. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Victor and Alice (Nemeth) Lopez. He was the husband of the late Josephine B. (Zych) Lopez, with whom he shared 66 years.
He was a graduate of Liberty HS.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War as a tank commander and was occasionally entrusted with the honor of escorting generals.
He was employed by UPS as a tractor trailer driver until retiring in 1997.
He was an active member of the Elks Lodge and the Racegoers Association.
He was a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Church.
He found great enjoyment on the golf course and was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to cheering on his beloved Philadelphia teams.
He is survived by; children Robert “Bobby” P. Lopez and his wife, Lee Ann and daughter, Debra Williams; granddaughters Alyssa Kathi Amaral and her husband, Christopher and Alison Rose Williams; great-granddogs, Archie and Toby. He was predeceased by his sister, Connie Glass, and his son-in-law, John D. Williams.
Robert’s family would like to thank the staff at Whitehall Manor and Family Pillars Hospice for the care and compassion showed to him and his family.
