New stop signs installed at the Summit Lawn exit ramp

Salisbury Township

Stop signs now in effect on Summit Lawn exit

Motorists may have noticed new stop signs at the intersection of the I-78 Summit Lawn exit ramp and West Rock Road, as well as temporary signage at the entrance and exit ramps, according to a press release from Salisbury Township.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation recently installed the additional stop signs, creating a four-way stop at the intersection.

“After evaluating the location, PennDOT determined sight distance is inadequate because of the sound barrier and the four-way stop is intended to improve safety for motorists,” according the press release.

The stop signs became effective July 20.

Extra caution is encouraged as drivers adjust to the change in the traffic pattern.

PennDOT also informed township officials ramp construction at the Summit Lawn interchange is scheduled to begin later in August.

The township expects to receive notice before work starts and details and updates will be shared with township residents.
