New community center grand opening celebration Aug. 1
On Aug. 1, Weisenberg Township will celebrate a historic day for the community with the grand opening of the Weisenberg Township Community Center.
Concurrently, the community will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Weisenberg Volunteer Fire Department Station and will host a Classic Car Show.
These events, taking place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Weisenberg Township Parks and Weisenberg Volunteer Fire Station, promise a day of family-friendly activities, community engagement, and celebration.
The community center, located at 9331 Lyon Valley Road, New Tripoli, was made possible through the support and shared vision of Weisenberg Township residents, donors, and local businesses committed to creating a gathering place for the community.
The Community Center’s tagline, “Where Neighbors Gather,” reflects the mission behind the project: providing a welcoming place for recreation, education, connection, and civic life for residents of all ages.
“This project came together because of people who care deeply about where they live,” Weisenberg Township Manager Brian Carl said. “A group of residents and local businesses wanted to give something back to the community and came together to provide funding for it. We hope our community center becomes a place where people can gather, spend time together, and build stronger connections with their neighbors.”
The new facility includes an indoor turf field, indoor walking track, multipurpose gymnasium, basketball hoops, two pickleball courts, community classroom with kitchen, free Little Library and municipal offices and public meeting room.
The Aug. 1, celebration will feature food vendors, over fifty community organizations, local businesses, and craft vendors, Northwestern Lehigh Artists Art Showcase, craft vendors, children and family activities, Community Classic Car Show, 20th anniversary celebration at the Weisenberg Volunteer Fire Department and hayrides connecting all three event locations.
Memberships for the community center became available July 1 with affordable Weisenberg resident and regional membership (available to Heidelberg, Lowhill, and Lynn residents) designed to encourage broad community participation.
