Emmaus boys play in Philly Live tournament

The Emmaus boys basketball team competed in the Philly Live tournament recently.

The event is a prominent high school team showcase that takes place during the official NCAA live periods, allowing college coaches to evaluate prospective recruits. It brings together top regional and national boys basketball teams to compete.

Emmaus played two games in the showcase on Saturday June 28.

The first game of the day was against Clearview Regional High School (NJ).

Rising senior Matt Rooney led the Hornets to an 84-72 victory, scoring 25 points with five rebounds, five steals, and three assists. Jake Ross also had a big game, scoring 14 points (all in the second half) and grabbing 11 rebounds.

It was a back-and-forth game with seven lead changes before the Hornets secured the lead for good.

Other scorers for Emmaus included Tyler Leman (15 points), Ben Grochowski (9), Teddy Laird (8), Noeah Newsome (7), Ty Laird (4) and Carter Ofori (2).

The second game was against Abe Lincoln High School.

Leading 5-4 to start the game, Emmaus went on a 14-point run to pull further away and never looked back, securing a 52-36 win. Jake Ross scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the victory. Ben Grochowski added 11 points.
