It’s summer basketball playoff time in Catasauqua, and action at the Catasauqua and North Catasauqua playgrounds will be heating up.

Preliminary and quarterfinal round games have gotten underway.

At Catasauqua Tuesday night, semifinal games were second-seeded Daku vs. third-seed Rebels Farm; and top-seeded LV Jays vs. Catty Corner.

The championship game was scheduled for Wednesday, after Press deadlines.

In North Catasauqua, games were scheduled to begin Tuesday evening (weather permitting) with eighth-seeded Palermo’s Italian Grill meeting ninth-seeded AAO; fourth-seeded Expert Auto Tinting was scheduled to face fifth-seed B’ Town Blazers; and third-seeded Curmaci Dental met sixth-seeded Jay Gilbert and Family at 8:30 p.m.

Wednesday’s slate features the winner of the 8-9 game against second-seeded Pammer Chiropractic; and 10th-seeded GR Electric against top-seed Team Escobar at 8:30 p.m.

On Thursday, the schedule will consist of the highest seed vs. the lowest seed and the second highest seed vs. the third highest seed with times to be determined. The league championship game will be July 20.

Ex-Whitehall standout Zach Gilbert of Team Escobar is the league’s leading scorer, averaging 20.8 points per game, followed by Luke Keppel, another ex-Zephyr, who is averaging 19.3.

Rounding out the top five scorers are Ray Barbosa of Pammer Chiropractic (18.0), Eza Gaines of B’Town Blazers (17.5), and Kezzy Carroll of Palmero’s Italian Grill (17.2).

Current Catasauqua player Zay Vaz of GR Electric is averaging 15.2 points per game, and teammate Aalani Nix, also of GR Electric, is averaging 13.9 points per game.
