The Parkland Education Foundation held its annual Distinguished Alumni Celebration in the high school library on April 30.
Five Parkland High School alumni, Matthew Binder, 1991; Gary Dorshimer, MD, 1973; Arlan Martz, PHD, 1958; Joseph Stephen, 1994; and Mary Kay Yezerski-Bondoc, 1993, were honored for their accomplishments following graduation from the Parkland High School.
Eric Roberts, chair of the guidance department, Parkland High School, was the Master of Ceremonies.
Lisa Evian, executive director and Tori Morgan, president, Parkland Education Foundation welcomed honorees and guests and gave the history of the Distinguished Alumni Celebration. Parkland School District Superintendent Dr. Mark Madson greeted the honorees and guests with a “thank you” for representing the Parkland High School with their accomplishments.
Lisa Ervin, executive director and Tori Morgan, board chair, Parkland Education Foundation, greeted honorees, families and guests to the Parkland Education Foundation Distinguished Alumni Celebration in the high school library on April 30.
Dr. Gary Dorshimer, 1973, is a distinguished internal medicine and primary care sports medicine physician, educated at Muhlenberg College and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, with residency training at Pennsylvania Hospital. He serves in numerous leadership roles, and was named “Top Doctor” by both the Philadelphia Magazine and U.S. News and World Report.
Mary Kay Yezerski-Bondoc, 1993, is an accomplished theater hair designer with extensive experience on Broadway, regional theater, and opera productions. She earned a B.A. in theater with a focus on acting and costume design from Point Park University and completed a makeup apprenticeship at the Santa Fe Opera under renowned Broadway wig designer Tom Watson. Mary Kay has served as head of hair for “Wicked” in New York since 2013.

PRESS PHOTOS BY LOU WHEELANDDr. Arlan Mantz, 1958, is a highly accomplished physicist who built a successful career in government research, private industry, and higher education, earning his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University and later retiring as Oakes Ames Professor Emeritus of Physics at Connecticut College.
Matthew Binder, 1991, is an accomplished educator, broadcast meteorologist, and mentor with a career spanning more than 35 years in science and communications education. He holds a B.S. in meteorology with a minor in mathematics from Penn State University and an M.S. in geoenvironmental Studies from Shippensburg University.
Joseph Stephen, 1994, is a senior federal law enforcement professional and U.S. diplomat with more than two decades of service protecting national security at home and abroad. He currently serves as a special agent with the U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service in Philadelphia and has held key leadership and overseas assignments in Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, and the United States, including work with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and as a country attaché at U.S. embassies.
