Members of the Trexlertown Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary met recently to discuss their future and to distribute funds to worthy organizations.

Also on the agenda was a special recognition of Linda Gorr, a 60-year member of the auxiliary and current president.

A contribution of $1,000 was made to the Lehigh County Joint Incident Rehabilitation Task Force.

The program was started by the Macungie Ambulance Corps and includes many Lehigh County Emergency Medical Services and special operations units.

Christopher Greb, executive director, The Macungie Ambulance Corps accepted the check.

A contribution of $1,500 made to the PA Wounded Warriors, Inc.

Though not affiliated by the national Wounded Warriors Association, the organizations share a common goal of reaching out to wounded warriors.

The PA Wounded Warriors provides ongoing support to those who have been injured while serving in uniform.

PA Wounded Warriors, Inc., was founded by the late Helen Sajer from Adams County.

She and her late husband Maj. General Gerald Sajer formed the organization after being asked to help support veterans housed in various Veterans Affairs Hospitals in the mid-Atlantic region.

Accepting the donation was Army Master Sgt. Lucille Gross.

At the close of the meeting, Linda Gorr was given a gold watch to commemorate her 60 years of involvement with the fire company.

She started serving when she was just 12 years old.

Her father was a volunteer and had both his children Linda and brother Leroy join the department.

Gorr has been a mainstay and consistent voice for the Trexlertown Fire Company ever since.
