Lots to do in Lower Macungie Township

Summer concerts are back at the Hills at Lockridge Park Bandshell, 7125 Scenic View Drive, Macungie. The Large Flowerheads will perform music of the 1960s 6:30—8:30 p.m. June 26; Island Time will play Jimmy Buffett-style music 6:30—8:30 p.m. July 10; Flamin’ Dick & The Hotrods will perform 1950s music 6—8:30 p.m. July 18; and Alex Buono will perform hits from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s 6—8 p.m. Aug. 8.

Lower Macungie Library hours are 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The library will be closed July 3 and 4 for the Independence Day holiday.

Memory Lane — a program for adults with dementia and their caregivers — will meet 1 p.m. July 27. Candice Leone, memory care program director at Genesis Lehigh Commons, will lead activities. Teen Dungeons & Dragons for grades 6-12 will meet 4—5:30 p.m. July 6 and 27.

Sensory Coloring and Crafting for adults will be held 11 a.m. to noon July 28.

Sunny Day Storytime for ages 2-5 will be held outdoors 10 a.m. June 24 and July 8, 15 and 22. In the event of inclement weather, the program will move indoors with limited space.

Mah-jongg Club will meet 2—4 p.m. Wednesdays beginning June 24. The program is open to beginners and experienced players.

Fun, Friendship and Fiber Arts for adults will meet 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 26 and July 17. Participants are invited to bring projects to share.

Teen Make ’n’ Take Crafts will be held 1—2 p.m. June 29.

Sensory Bingo will be offered 11 a.m. June 30.

A movie matinee of “The Land Before Time” for youth will be shown 2—3:30 p.m. June 30.

Piece of Mind, a program for adults, will meet 1—3 p.m. June 30 and July 14 for board games and puzzles.

The Lower Macungie Library Book Club will meet virtually 10:30 a.m. to noon July 1 to discuss “James” by Percival Everett.

Singo: Patriotic Bingo and Sing-Along for all ages will be held 10 a.m. to noon July 2. Minecraft Mania for youth will be held noon — 1 p.m. July 6.

A Sensory Movie Matinee for adults with disabilities and caregivers will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 7 and 21.

The movie “The Croods” for youth will be shown 2—3:30 p.m. July 7.

Food Preservation: Blueberries, for adults, will be held 6—7:45 p.m. July 7.

A Build It! Block Party for ages 2-6 will be held 10 a.m. July 9.

Unearth a Story Escape Room for grades 3 and older will offer sessions 2—3 p.m. and 5—6 p.m. July 9.

The Art of Conversation Café for adults will meet 10 a.m. to noon July 10.

Books and Beyond will meet 6 p.m. July 13 at the library to discuss “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy. The next meeting will be Aug. 10 at 3W Eatery on Brookside Road.

A Sensory Game Day for adults with disabilities and caregivers will be held 11 a.m. to noon July 14.

A StoryWalk for preschoolers and youth will be held 10 a.m. July 14 at Kalmbach Memorial Park Macungie.

A K-Pop Demon Hunters Party for youth and teens will be held 2—3 p.m. July 18.

Teen Lounge: Watercolors will meet 4—5 p.m. July 20.

Get in the Game for all ages will be held 6—7:45 p.m. July 20.

Lower Macungie Pool is open noon to 8 p.m. through July 31. The pool will close 4:45 p.m. June 29 and July 6 for swim meets. Swim lessons are available.

Lower Macungie Township Senior Citizens will meet noon July 7 at the community center. Jeff Krick Sr. will perform. An ice cream social will be held noon to 2 p.m. July 21. New members must be township residents age 60 or older.

Lower Lehigh AARP will not meet during the summer. The next meeting is scheduled for noon Oct. 8 at Macungie Memorial Hall.

The Alburtis Seniors will not meet in July or August.

Lower Macungie Township has partnered with Upper Macungie Township to offer Splash Park memberships. Residents must create an account at uppermac.recdesk.com.

Open gym is available at the community center for residents with an annual membership.

The yard waste center, 5536 Indian Creek Road, is open through Oct. 31: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. Permits are required.

Weekly curbside collection of grass clippings is held on regular trash days. Yard waste collection will be held every other week July 6 and 20.
