Public Library of Catasauqua: Summer reading starts June 18
June is a month of transitions: spring into summer, high schoolers into graduates, lengthening days into shortening days, just to name a few. The Public Library of Catasauqua is happy to help you with all of these transitions and more, but we also pride ourselves on being an institution you can count on to provide the services and entertainment you’ve always enjoyed.
In that spirit, the annual summer reading program starts June 18 and runs Thursdays through July 30, except July 2. Unlike our regular Thursday reading and craft, the sessions will start 3 p.m.
This year’s theme is Unearth a Story, so there will be a lot of dino fun for kids and their caregivers.

Our adult book club is reading and discussing “Sandwich” by Catherine Newman, a warmhearted look at families. The club meets July 1.
Stop by to order a copy of the book from our consortium of libraries or just come to the gathering and listen in. All are welcome.

This year, the library will be hosting summer board game Tuesdays. It is a nice chance for kids of all ages to get out of the heat, away from a screen and play some good old-fashioned games with friends old and new. The event starts 11 a.m. and runs most of the day.
Also, jigsaw puzzles are available for a quieter pastime.

Our computer Gaming Club still meets every Saturday, with guided help for those just getting started with Minecraft, Roblox, etc., and those who are upping their challenge. Computers are available, but free wifi also allows for individuals to bring their own devices.
***
Stitches, the library’s fiber arts group, meets 5:30 p.m. every Monday night at the downstairs conference table. Members are always available to help with your projects, or just come meet a community to spur you on. New crocheters/knitters/etc. are as welcome as seasoned pros.
