Carol Reid Chorney

Special Olympics volunteer

Carol Reid Chorney of Laurys Station died June 4 peacefully with her husband by her side.

She was born Dec. 7, 1953, in Allentown. She was the daughter of the late George Lee and Etha Reid of Emmaus.

She was the beloved wife of Stephen Chorney to whom she was married for 35 years.

She was a 1971 graduate of Emmaus HS. She retired from Air Products and Chemicals after 33 years of employment, her last assignment as a purchasing coordinator.

Carol always said her greatest accomplishment was raising her son, Matthew, who has Down syndrome, as well as being involved with Special Olympics of Lehigh County as a volunteer and helping with events planning.

Surviving along with her husband, Stephen Chorney, is her son, Matthew Reid Chorney and his wife, Megan Chorney. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Reid of Venice Fla., and her brother, Robert Reid of Emmaus. She was predeceased by her sister, Marion Reid Schaffer, and her brother, George Malcolm Reid.
