Abbey Thomas is named an Emmaus High School Student of the Week
Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings, and pets.
A. My family members include my parents, Nancy and Darin Thomas, my siblings, Mac and Ben Thomas and my dog named Faith.
Q. As a senior, did you have any specific goals you pursued this academic year?
A. My goals this academic year were continuing to support my community and help those in need. I want to continue to commit myself to helping those who are less fortunate than me.
Q. What was your favorite class at Emmaus Highschool? Why?
A. My favorite class at Emmaus was my Positive Well-Being class as it taught me to give myself grace and find the positive in every situation. It allowed me to find a healthy balance between my academic, athletic and personal life.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I have received Principal’s Honor Roll, 2x First Team EPC Girls Lacrosse All-Star and Emmaus Girls Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Year.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in this (these) organization(s) impacted your high school experience?
A. I am involved in the Emmaus girls lacrosse program, National Honor Society, Key Club, Morgan’s Message, Student Mentorship Program and Habitat for Humanity. Being involved in these organizations has had a huge impact on my view of the world and the importance of helping those around me. I have seen the first hand impact of getting involved in my community and these organizations have pushed me to do so.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. Dealing with the pressure to succeed and meet expectations. Balancing my personal goals with external pressures has been a challenge but has overall made me a stronger person. Defining my success on my own terms and maintaining a healthy perspective has been key to my success.
Q. At this time, what are your plans for the future beyond high school?
A. My plans beyond high school include attending Saint Leo University to play on the women’s lacrosse team and major in elementary education.
