The Parkland High School boys lacrosse team finished the last week of the regular season by splitting its two Eastern Pennsylvania Conference games.

The Trojans dropped the opening game of the week 11-10 in overtime against Central Catholic last Monday night, April 27. They responded in the regular season finale against rival Emmaus, winning 10-9 last Thursday.

Parkland finished the regular season with a 12-5 overall record and 7-2 mark in the conference, earning the three seed in this week’s EPC playoffs.

First-year head coach Scott Ketcham has been satisfied with what his team has accomplished so far in his first year and what it is set up for moving forward.

“Overall, we have been very pleased,” said Ketcham. “The players have done a fantastic job of adapting to change, which is really hard to do. Every year the EPC gets stronger and stronger, so, to maintain the high level of play needed to qualify makes us feel pretty good at this point.”

In the game with the Vikings, CCHS led 2-1 after the first quarter, but Parkland scored four of the six second-quarter goals to take a 5-4 lead at halftime.

The Trojans outscored Central 4-3 in the third, but the Vikings tied it with three goals in the fourth quarter while only allowing one before getting the winner in the extra time.

Parkland’s John Gerancher finished with a hat trick and Colton Arezzi, Danny Tapia and Matthew Scott each tallied two goals.

Bailey Wettmore rounded out the scoring with a goal. Owen Fehnel finished with 16 saves in net.

In the victory over Emmaus, the two teams were tied 3-3 after the opening quarter.

The Trojans took advantage in the second quarter and outscored them Hornets 5-1 to go up 8-4 at the break.

Emmaus scored twice in the third and did not allow a goal and then pulled to within just one, scoring three of the five goals, but Parkland was able to hold on in the end.

Gerancher and Isaiah Fisher both had hat tricks and Arezzi and Tapia each netted twice with Gerancher and Arezzi both dishing out two assists. Fehnel made five saves.
