Salisbury softball team beats Pen Argyl
The schedule gave the Lady Falcons some time off over the Easter holiday and the offense came back refreshed.
In their first game in a week, Salisbury scored 11 runs on 12 hits and turned four Pen Argyl errors into six unearned runs in an 11-8 win over the Green Knights.
Julia Carney went 3-for-5 with three singles that led to two runs scored and three RBI for the freshman infielder. Carney is now batting .526 in six games and has scored eight runs to share the team lead with Sophia Gunning. Her eight RBI share the team lead with Tessa Kemmerer.
Kemmerer and Gianna Olds also had three hits in the game, and both scored twice. Kemmerer drove in two runs and Olds drove in one.
Kemmerer (.471), Olds (.400), and Carney (.526) fill the two, three, and four spots in the batting order to give opposing pitchers a tough run of hitters to navigate.
As a team, Salisbury is batting .368 with a collective .968 OPS. Gunning (.667), Brinlee Neitz (.471), Olds (.400), and Leilanna Negron (.313) are pacing the Falcons offense. Olds has six stolen bases to pace the team, which has 21 stolen bases without a runner being thrown out.
Kemmerer battled Pen Argyl from the circle and worked a complete game allowing 10 hits and walking seven, but she struck out 12 hitters in the win. Kemmerer has pitched every inning for Salisbury this season with a 3.68 ERA.
The Falcons return to Salisbury Middle School for games against Southern Lehigh and Catasauqua this week and are home next Monday against Northwestern Lehigh.
On Saturday they face Saucon Valley in a morning game at Patriots Park in Allentown.
