Moore Township: Fire chief, emergency management report burn ban in effect

Klecknersville Rangers Volunteer Fire Department chief and Moore Township’s emergency management announced a burn ban is in effect for the township due to recent dry, warm/hot weather. The ban is in effect until further notice.

All open burning is prohibited, including brush piles, campfires and burn barrels.

Moore Township Historical Commission will be meeting 7 p.m. April 28 at the municipal building, 2491 Community Drive. Learn about the rich history of Moore Township and raise awareness of the historical importance of the township.

Consider joining and supporting the historical commission, as there is a vacancy. Call the township office at 610-759-9449 for information or to apply for the open position.

The township board of supervisors will next meet 6 p.m. May 5 at the municipal building. An agenda is available on the township website at mooretownship.org.

Moore Township Land and Environmental Protection Board’s next meeting will be held 7 p.m. May 11 at the municipal building. The board has successfully preserved countless acres of farmland and open space within the township.

Moore Township Recreation Committee will meet 7 p.m. May 21 at the municipal building.

Klecknersville Rangers Volunteer Fire Department, 2718 Mountain View Drive, is holding its annual grilling/smoking competition 4-8 p.m. June 28. The kitchen will be open for side dishes, baked goods and drinks.

There is a cost for tasting tickets to vote on your best-liked meats. Three prizes will be awarded.

There will be raffles throughout the show.

Bingo is held 7 p.m. Tuesdays in the social hall at Klecknersville Rangers Volunteer Fire Department. Doors open 5 p.m.

There will be prizes, progressive jackpot, rob the piggy bank, wash line bingo and a lot of fun.

The Moore Township Association for Families in Need group meets the second Tuesday of each month at Covenant United Methodist Church, 2715 Mountain View Drive.

Yard waste can be dropped off at the municipal complex. There are bins for weeds and brush. The drop-off area is open 7 a.m.-2:45 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 7 a.m.-dusk Saturdays.

Drop-off is not available on a number of holidays — New Year’s, Presidents, Memorial, Independence, Labor, Veterans, Thanksgiving and Christmas days; Good Friday; and the day after both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
