Easter breakfast held April 12

The Masonic Temple Porter-Chapman Lodge, 1103 Sixth St., North Catasauqua, was the site of an Easter breakfast April 12. The breakfast was sponsored by the Porter Lodge 284.

The Lodge teamed up with the boroughs of North Catasauqua and Catasauqua to hold the breakfast before the community egg hunt.

Porter Lodge Master Conner Gavigan was delighted with the effort to serve the community and assist families and their children. Gavigan was a hands-on leader as he assisted wherever he was needed at the breakfast. Gavigan’s son, Ryan, staffed the food ticket sale table, and his spouse, Vanessa, helped with the food service.

Team members in the kitchen were busy cooking the breakfast. Rich Mullin, senior deacon of the Chapman Lodge 637, served food to attendees.

The kids at the breakfast had fun with all the balloons on the floor surrounding the Easter Bunny. Parker Kalynych ran around tapping balloons in the air. Parker was a bit reluctant to sit on the Bunny’s lap, so he simply shook the Bunny’s paw.

Kitchen leader Dennis Scholtis, of Laurys Station, had no issue sitting on the Easter Bunny’s lap. They took a nice picture.

Both the North Catasauqua and Catasauqua fire departments joined each other at a large table to share breakfast. They enjoyed the excellent breakfast fare while they strengthened the bonds between the two departments.

Overall, it was a fun event on many levels for the kids, families, the folks running the breakfast and the volunteer firefighters.

Porter Lodge 284 has a history that dates back to Jan. 30, 1854. The Lodge is named after James Madison Porter, a former deputy grand master of Eastern Pennsylvania. The Lodge purchased its current building in May of 1975.
