The Northwestern Lehigh track and field teams competed in the Blue Mountain Invitational last week.

Sadie Fenstermaker won the girls discus with a throw of 111 feet, 4 inches. She also took second place in shot put at 35-3 1/4.

The Tigers also won a pair of girls relays at the meet as the 4x100 and 4x400 teams broke the tape for first place.

Several other Tigers finished in the top five in their events at the meet.

Sophia Schaffer took second place in the 400-meter dash. Grace Yost finished second in pole vault. Katie Brensinger finished second behind Fenstermaker in discus and was third overall in 100-meter hurdles. Fenstermaker was second in shot put.

Kaia Grantham placed fifth in two events, the 100 and 200. Celina Ruddell finished third in high jump. Hannah Gober placed fourth in javelin.

In boys events, Gavin Nelson was the Tigers’ only top-five finisher at the meet. Nelson, a returning state qualifier in high jump, took first place at Blue Mountain by clearing 6-3.

The Tigers also competed in a dual meet last week, sweeping Pen Argyl.

Northwestern had 19 different individual winners to help spark the Tigers to a Colonial League sweep of Pen Argyl.

The Northwestern boys earned a 91-58 victory to improve to 8-1 this season, while the girls registered a 97-53 decision and are 9-0 heading into next week’s final regular season meet against Palisades and unbeaten Southern Lehigh.

Greyson Wellings won the boys 800, and also ran a leg on the winning 400 and 3200 relay races. Daniel Jenkins also captured the 300 hurdles and ran a leg on the 400 relay team.

Fenstermaker captured multiple firsts, taking both the shot put and discus.
