Tigers stretch win streak to seven games

The Northwestern Lehigh baseball team has stretched its winning streak to seven games with the Wilson Warriors being their latest conquest.

The Tigers put together a three-run seventh inning for a 5-3 walk-off win when senior Josh Lichman launched a three-run home run to lock up the win. The home run capped a 2-for-4 day for Lichman, who is batting .394 with a team-leading 13 RBI on the season.

Down 2-0, Justin Augustus delivered a two-run single to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth inning after the Warriors (4-5, 4-5) put up two runs in the top of the inning.

Wilson followed in the top of the fifth to take a 3-2 lead and both teams put zeros on the board until Augustus launched his first home run of the season for the game winner.

Shaun O’Donnell got the complete game win, striking out six batters and walking just two.

The win followed a pair of games where the Tigers put up a combined 24 runs as they downed Palisades 13-2 and then beat Saucon Valley 11-4.

Northwestern (8-3 Colonial, 7-1 overall) got off to another fast start in the win over the Pirates (3-5, 4-5) as the Tigers put up eight runs in the first inning.

Up 8-2, the Tigers put the game away with a five-run fourth inning and then shut down Palisades in the top of the fifth to make the game official.

Augustus was again in the middle of the scoring with a first inning grand slam and a 2-for-3 day at the plate. Eli Zimmerman joined Augustus when he launched a home run and finished the day with two RBI and two runs scored for Northwestern.

Freshman Cole Dynda had a two-hit game in the win and in addition to Augustus, Lichman, and Zimmerman all scoring two runs, Josh Farber, and Bob Croneberger also both scored twice for Northwestern.

Aidan Freeman allowed just three hits over five innings to get the win.

In the lone road game of the past week, Northwestern again scored in the first inning and led all the way before blowing the game open with six runs in the sixth inning to bring down Saucon Valley (5-2, 5-2). Farber, Lichman, and Dynda all had RBI singles as the Tigers went up 4-1 and lit up the scoreboard in the sixth thanks to a two-run double by Lichman and RBI singles from Farber and Zimmerman.

Farber started the game and threw six innings, striking out seven along the way to get the win. Sophomore Griffin Unrath pitched the seventh inning.

In the last three games, Lichman is hitting .545 (6-for-11) with seven RBI and six runs scored with a double and a home run, while Augustus hit .500 (5-for-10) with six RBI and three runs scored, contributing a double and his grand slam home run against Palisades.
