Zephs sweep Marian

Whitehall’s swim team hosted Marian Catholic for their final meet of the regular season on Feb. 14 when the Zephyr girls won, 127-27, and the Zephyr boys won, 106-49.

The Zephyrs also celebrated Senior Night, so it was only fitting that senior Kelly Wallitsch led off the 200 medley relay to open the meet.

Wallitsch, Jenna Giedl, Kyra Giedl, and senior Kendra Musselman clinched first place in the medley relay with a time of 2:11.35.

The all-senior boys team of Gabe O’Brien, Ian Thomas, Aaron Stinner, and Andrew Deutsch also won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:46.02.

Wallitsch went on to win the 200 freestyle in 2:26.08, and Kyra Giedl won the 200 IM in 2:36.93.

Alex Madden won the 200 IM for the Zephyr boys in 2:34.16.

Musselman took first place in the 50 free in 27.68, and O’Brien was first in the same event in 25.88.

The 100 butterfly winners were Ryann Giedl in 1:21.89 and Stinner in 53.75.

Quinn Doyle came in second place in the 100 free by a touch with a time of 58.64 to Reece Steibler’s time of 58.55 for Marian Catholic.

Whitehall had two winners in the 500 free with Aramilis Rivera in 7:28.71 and Thomas in 5:14.26.

In the 200 free relay, Ryann Giedl, Jenna Giedl, Greta O’Brien, and Kyra Giedl took first place in 1:58.63.

Wallitsch won the 100 backstroke in 1:11.45, and Jenna Giedl was first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:26.04.

The Zephyrs won both 400 free relays to end the meet with Ryann Giedl, Greta O’Brien, Wallitsch, and Musselman whose time was 4:23.00, and with Thomas, Stinner, Deutsch, and O’Brien whose time was 3:30.22.
