AARP tax scheduling day Feb. 1 at the library

Lower Macungie Library hours are 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

A new book club – Alburtis Afternoon Book Club – will meet 1-2:30 p.m. Jan. 18 to discuss “The Reading List” by Sara Nisha Adams. The book club will meet at the Alburtis Community Center. They will meet Feb. 15 to discuss “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen.

There will be a movie matinee featuring “Elvis” 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 19.

“A Voice For All: Ukrainian Unity Day” will be held 1-2:30 p.m. Jan. 22. There will be discussion on how to support the Ukrainian people during the war between Ukraine and Russia.

There will be an adult program “Fun, Friendship & Fiber Arts” 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 26. Bring your fiber art project and patterns and have some fun.

Get In The Game for families is an opportunity to play your favorite games 6-8 p.m. Jan. 30.

There will be a movie night featuring “42” 5:30-8 p.m. Jan. 31.

AARP Tax-Aide appointment scheduling day is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 1 in person at the library. If unable to sign up Feb. 1, applicants can call 484-232-8807 beginning Feb. 2.

The Lower Macungie Library Book Club book for 10:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 7 is “The Maid” by Nita Prose. The book for March 1 is “The Four Winds” by Kristin Hannah. The book club meets virtually.

Books & Beyond will meet 6-8 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Trivet Diner, 4549 Tilghman St. to discuss books, music, movies, TV, travel, life and more.

Concordia Lutheran Preschool will hold its annual spaghetti dinner Jan. 27 with seating times 4-7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling the church office at 610-965-3265.

The Lower Macungie Township Senior Citizens will meet noon Feb. 6 at the community center. The speaker will be Kelly Gerencher from the Yellow Dot Program. Members are welcome to stay after the meeting to socialize and play games.

There will be a Love Bug Dance Party for children ages 3-12 years with a parent 6-8 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Lower Macungie Township Community Center. Details are available at www.lowermac.com.

Lower Macungie Township now offers indoor pickleball at the community center gymnasium. Advance registration is required.

Open gym is also available at the community center. Residents must purchase an annual membership to use the gym.

Adult classes include baking, belly dance, yoga, karate, ballroom dance and tai chi. Youth classes include cooking, Kindermusik, Safe Sitter, tennis, pre-ballet and tot sports.

The community center is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and staff will be available via phone during that time at 610-966-6924. Updates will also be posted on Facebook and www.lowermac.com.

Yard waste center hours are noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday for January and February. Yard waste permits are required for drop-off. The center is located at 5536 Indian Creek Road, Macungie.
