The high school football season has officially begun with Monday’s opening day of the heat acclimatization period.

The first day of contact practice is slated for Aug. 17 with teams then getting their one scrimmage in on August 22.

Opening night of the season is Aug. 28 with Liberty opening at Pennridge, Freedom at Downingtown West and Bethlehem Catholic hosting Delaware Valley.

The only notable schedule change for the city schools is Freedom hosting Phillipsburg on September 11.

There will also be six Thursday night games for the three schools, which are highlighted below.

Liberty owns that share of the Thursday night schedule, playing four straight games on Thursday’s starting Sep. 4 all the way through September 24.

Freedom plays twice on Thursday, including a marquee Sep. 4 showdown home against Parkland. Bethlehem Catholic has no Thursday games scheduled.
