Get involved! SES PTO meeting Sept. 14

I hope everyone is getting into the back to school routine and survived the first few weeks. I think we are off to an amazing school year!

The next curriculum and technology meeting will be 7 p.m. Sept. 13 in the administration building. Immediately following that meeting, will be the school board meeting.

The Salisbury Elementary School PTO general meeting will be held 6 p.m. Sept. 14. Please look for information on this important meeting to come home with your SES students.

SES will hold picture day Sept. 18. Look for information regarding how to order and prepay for the photos of your student.

Salisbury High School will hold a dual enrollment meeting for students interested in this option 6 p.m. Sept. 21. The process, classes and options will be discussed.

SHS will hold its open house 6:45-9 p.m. Sept. 21.

The Devonshire drop-off site will be open Sept, 14 and 16 and the Franko site will be open Sept. 18, 21 and 23. Hours will remain 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Thursday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

During the American Civil War, Americans from the home front to the battlefront, Union and Confederate, played the wonderful game of baseball while great armies met and fought each other on the battlefield to decide the country’s fate. Join historian and re-enactor Michael Jesberger at the Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown, 10 a.m. Sept. 16 to learn about the evolution of baseball and how it impacted Civil War soldiers.

Enjoy an evening with fellow book lovers to discuss “The Maid” by Nita Prose 6 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Allentown Public Library.

The Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown, will host a used book sale 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 17-18. There will be a large assortment of used books on all topics to choose from at the sale. It’s a great bargain and all proceeds benefit the library. Thousands of books, CDs and DVDs will be for sale.
